VUVULANE, ESWATINI – A new chapter in Eswatini’s tourism and events landscape was officially unveiled this week with the launch of Simunye Fest, a three-day cultural, lifestyle and entertainment festival expected to draw thousands of visitors to the Lubombo Region in October 2026.
Scheduled for 23-25 October 2026, Simunye Fest will be hosted in Vuvulane, strategically located along the East 3 corridor, one of Eswatini’s most important tourism and trade routes connecting the Kingdom to Mozambique and South Africa. Organisers believe the festival has the potential to transform the region into a major tourism destination while stimulating economic growth for local communities.
Speaking during the official media launch, Simunye Fest Organising Committee representative Msutfu Masilela described the event as more than just a music festival.

“This is not a music event with extras. This is a fully integrated cultural, entrepreneurship and lifestyle ecosystem purpose-built for the modern African audience,” she said.
The festival will occupy approximately 7.85 hectares and feature twelve experience zones, including a Tourism and Cultural Experience area, camping facilities, family entertainment, fashion and lifestyle exhibitions, networking spaces, and creator hubs. Organisers anticipate welcoming at least 5,000 attendees during the inaugural edition.
A key attraction of the festival is its location. Vuvulane sits within easy driving distance of major regional markets, including Maputo in Mozambique and Mpumalanga in South Africa, creating an opportunity to attract cross-border visitors seeking unique cultural experiences in Eswatini.
Tourism stakeholders believe the event could become a catalyst for unlocking the largely untapped tourism potential of the East 3 corridor. Visitors travelling to the festival are expected to spend on accommodation, fuel, dining, shopping and local attractions, generating significant economic benefits for businesses throughout eastern Eswatini.
Organisers noted that local vendors, crafters and service providers stand to benefit directly from increased visitor numbers, while small businesses will gain exposure through dedicated enterprise development initiatives at the festival’s Impact Hub.
Beyond entertainment, Simunye Fest aims to celebrate Eswatini’s cultural identity while showcasing the Kingdom’s renowned hospitality to regional and international visitors. The event’s name, “Simunye,” meaning “We Are One” in siSwati, reflects a vision of unity, cultural exchange and community participation.
The festival is also expected to strengthen Eswatini’s growing reputation as a destination for events tourism, a sector increasingly recognised for its ability to drive visitor arrivals and extend tourism spending into rural and emerging destinations.

Organisers have also committed to community development initiatives, including educational support programmes, charity projects and wellness initiatives aimed at ensuring that local residents benefit from the festival’s long-term success.
With Lubombo already home to several tourism attractions and conservation areas, Simunye Fest is expected to complement existing tourism offerings while introducing thousands of new visitors to the region.
As preparations begin for the inaugural event, tourism operators, accommodation establishments and local businesses across the Lubombo Region are expected to benefit from what could become one of Eswatini’s flagship annual tourism events.
For travellers seeking a blend of culture, music, entrepreneurship and authentic Swazi experiences, Simunye Fest may well become one of Southern Africa’s most anticipated festival weekends.
