MANZINI BUS RANK TO RELOCATE TEMPORARILY FROM JUNE 27

MANZINI – The Municipal Council of Manzini has confirmed that the city’s Main Bus Rank will be temporarily relocated from Saturday, June 27, 2026, as part of ongoing urban development initiatives aimed at transforming Eswatini’s commercial hub.

Speaking during a press conference, Municipal Council of Manzini Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Lungile P. Dlamini, announced the relocation plan and assured commuters, transport operators, businesses and residents that measures have been put in place to ensure a smooth transition.

The temporary relocation will see public transport operations moved to designated sites across the city while redevelopment works continue at the Main Bus Rank.

Dr. Dlamini said the relocation marks an important milestone in the city’s efforts to modernise public infrastructure and improve service delivery for residents and visitors alike.

“The temporary relocation is necessary to allow the city to undertake critical development projects that will ultimately improve transport services, enhance safety and create a more efficient urban environment,” she said.

Under the arrangement, buses serving western routes, including Kakhoza, Ngwane Park and Nhlangano, will operate from the Old Trade Fair Site. Other routes will be accommodated at alternative designated locations communicated by the municipality.

The CEO emphasised that the council has worked closely with transport operators, government agencies, businesses and other stakeholders to minimise disruptions during the transition period.

She urged commuters to familiarise themselves with the temporary sites and follow guidance provided by municipal officials and transport operators.

Dr. Dlamini further assured the public that access to businesses and essential services within the city centre would remain uninterrupted throughout the relocation period.

The relocation forms part of broader efforts by the Municipal Council to upgrade Manzini’s infrastructure and strengthen its position as Eswatini’s economic centre.

Stakeholders attending the briefing welcomed the initiative, noting that while temporary inconveniences may be experienced, the long-term benefits of improved transport facilities and urban development will contribute positively to the city’s growth.

The Municipal Council has committed to providing regular updates as the relocation process unfolds and has encouraged the public to use official communication channels for accurate information.

The temporary relocation is expected to commence on June 27, with municipal officials on site to assist commuters and transport operators during the transition.
