MALKERNS PARKVIEW OPENS, BOOSTS GROWTH

MALKERNS, ESWATINI — Malkerns Parkview was officially opened on September 3, 2026, marking a significant milestone in the continued development of Malkerns and strengthening the area’s position as an emerging commercial and lifestyle destination.

The opening brought together government officials, investors, business leaders, tenants, community representatives and other stakeholders, who hailed the development as an example of how public-private collaboration and investment can contribute to economic growth and community development.

A “WORLD-CLASS CENTRE” FOR ESWATINI

African Alliance Group Partner Nigel England described Malkerns Parkview as a “world-class centre” with the potential to uplift not only Malkerns, but Eswatini as a whole.

Speaking at the grand opening, England said African Alliance was committed to delivering projects of this nature across the country, positioning the group as a catalyst for demonstrating what can be achieved through investment and development.

He said the development reflects the group’s ambition to contribute meaningfully to Eswatini’s economic transformation while creating spaces that respond to the needs of growing communities.

African Alliance Group Partner S’thofeni Ginindza said the group had adopted the theme “Keep Moving,” a message shared by His Majesty King Mswati III during the country’s National Prayer Service held earlier this year.

Ginindza said the theme reflected African Alliance’s continued momentum and commitment to growth, while emphasising the importance of working with key stakeholders to advance His Majesty’s vision and support Eswatini’s development.

MINISTER KHUMALO: PRIVATE SECTOR KEY TO ECONOMIC GROWTH

Officiating at the ceremony, Minister of Commerce, Industry and Trade Manqoba Khumalo commended African Alliance, its co-investors, business partners, contractors, local authorities and the Malkerns community for bringing the development to fruition.

He also praised African Alliance for contributing to His Majesty King Mswati III’s vision of transforming Eswatini into a first-world economy.

Minister Khumalo said the opening represented far more than the launch of a new commercial centre. Instead, he described it as a reflection of Malkerns’ continued growth and transformation.

He noted that Malkerns Parkview brings retail and essential services closer to residents, reducing the need to travel further for everyday goods and services. The development also complements the wider vision for Malkerns Square as an integrated precinct where people can “live, work, shop and enjoy community life.”

The Minister emphasised that economic development cannot be driven by government alone.

While government’s responsibility is to create an enabling environment through supportive policies, effective regulation and the facilitation of investment, he said the private sector ultimately transforms opportunities into businesses, infrastructure, employment and economic activity.

He highlighted the ripple effects of Malkerns Parkview, from construction through to its current operations, noting that every business, employee and local supplier connected to the centre forms part of Eswatini’s broader economic value chain.

For this reason, he said, developments such as Malkerns Parkview should be viewed not simply as property investments, but as investments in communities and the wider economy.

Minister Khumalo also addressed the centre’s tenants, commending them for their confidence in investing in Malkerns and encouraging them to maintain high standards of quality, customer service, innovation and value for money.

At the same time, he called on the community to embrace and support the businesses operating within the precinct.

He described the opening as “another milestone in the continued development of Malkerns,” expressing hope that the centre would prosper, grow its businesses and create meaningful employment opportunities for emaSwati.

ENPF: INVESTING IN SHARED PROGRESS

Eswatini National Provident Fund (ENPF) Chief Executive Officer Futhie Tembe said the organisation’s investment philosophy is focused on generating sustainable returns for its members while investing in assets that create lasting value for society.

Tembe described Malkerns Parkview as a symbol of economic growth, community upliftment and shared progress, reflecting ENPF’s commitment to investments that contribute to Eswatini’s long-term social and economic development.
