MBABANE — The Vendemiale family from Italy experienced the heart of Eswatini’s capital on August 21, 2026 through the Mbabane City Walk Experience, a Nolu Tours offering that connects visitors with Mbabane’s culture, people, food, history and everyday life.
The family embarked on a guided walk from Mbabane Municipality Council, making their way through the city, passing the Taiwan Embassy and exploring the vibrant Mbabane Market.
The experience allowed the Italian visitors to explore Mbabane beyond conventional sightseeing, immersing themselves in the everyday rhythm of the capital while learning about local traditions and customs.

Food formed another important part of the experience, with the family enjoying a traditional breakfast featuring fat cakes, soft porridge and a maize meal drink. This was followed by a local lunch of hard-body chicken served with traditional Swati vegetables and pap.

As part of the cultural experience, the family was also educated about traditional medicine, gaining insight into indigenous plants, remedies and the role of traditional knowledge within Swati communities.
The city walk concluded with a visit to the Queen Regent Labotsibeni Gwamile Mdluli monument along Gwamile Street, giving the visitors an opportunity to learn more about Eswatini’s history and the legacy of one of the country’s prominent historical figures.
The Mbabane City Walk Experience demonstrates the growing potential of urban tourism in Eswatini, bringing together the capital’s streets, markets, cuisine, traditional knowledge and heritage sites to create an authentic visitor experience.

For the Vendemiale family, the journey was more than simply a walk through Mbabane. It was an opportunity to experience the city through its people, taste its traditions, learn about its cultural practices and connect with its history.
