COWBOY HATS, HOT BEATS TAKE OVER FARMERS MARKET

BY PHUMELELE GAMEDZE

MALKERNS – Cowboy hats, stylish boots, denim outfits and electrifying musical performances transformed Malkerns Country Club into an entertainment playground on Saturday as the fifth edition of the Eswatini Farmers Market brought together music lovers, fashion enthusiasts and festivalgoers for a vibrant celebration of style, music and lifestyle.

Held on October 10 under the theme “LOOK LIKE A COWBOY”, the event showcased the growing appeal of lifestyle experiences that bring fashion, music, entrepreneurship and social interaction together under one roof.

Festivalgoers embraced the Western-inspired dress code, turning the venue into a colourful display of cowboy hats, boots, denim and creative fashion statements. The theme encouraged self-expression while giving the event a distinctive visual identity, with attendees becoming part of the spectacle.

However, the fashion was only part of the attraction, as the music stages kept revellers entertained throughout the day and into the evening.

Local favourite Bandora delivered an energetic performance that had the crowd on its feet, demonstrating the appeal of homegrown talent and the important role local artists continue to play in Eswatini’s entertainment industry.

The excitement continued with Cup B2B and Sbu Manzini, whose joint set maintained the momentum and kept the audience engaged. Their performance added to a diverse entertainment programme that catered to different musical tastes.

South African artist Argento Dust brought his Afro-tech sound to the Eswatini audience, with his hit “Tiki Tiki” adding to the festival’s musical highlights.

Other major acts featured on the lineup included Zee Nxumalo, Oscar Mbo, JNR SA and Royal Musiq, alongside a strong selection of local performers. The combination of regional stars and homegrown talent reinforced the event’s position as a platform for musical exchange and entertainment.

Beyond the stage, the Eswatini Farmers Market continued to bring together food, fashion, lifestyle products and entrepreneurship, creating opportunities for businesses to connect with consumers while giving festivalgoers more to explore.

Since its launch in 2022, the event has evolved from a marketplace connecting businesses with consumers into a broader lifestyle gathering. Its fifth edition continued this approach by combining entertainment with opportunities for vendors to showcase their products and engage with visitors.

The cowboy theme added another layer of participation, encouraging attendees to dress for the occasion and contribute to the festival’s atmosphere rather than simply watch from the sidelines.

The gathering also reflected the growing appetite for experiential events that combine music, fashion, food and commerce in a single setting. By creating space for local businesses and performers alongside regional entertainment acts, the festival brought together different elements of Eswatini’s creative and lifestyle industries.

Ultimately, the fifth Eswatini Farmers Market delivered a celebration in which fashion met music, business met leisure, and festivalgoers became part of the experience.

From the cowboy-inspired outfits to the energetic performances, Malkerns was transformed into a lively meeting point for entertainment, self-expression and lifestyle experiences.
