RELIEF AT THE PUMPS AS FUEL PRICES DROP

Motorists and households across Eswatini can look forward to welcome relief at the pumps after the Ministry of Natural Resources and Energy announced a significant fuel price decrease, effective at midnight on Thursday, 2 July 2026.

Unleaded Petrol (ULP95) will decrease by E1.50 per litre, dropping from E26.17 to E24.67 per litre. Diesel (0.005% S) sees an even steeper cut of E3.00 per litre, falling from E29.20 to E26.20, while Illuminating Paraffin also drops by E3.00 per litre, from E23.38 to E20.38, a meaningful saving for households that rely on paraffin for cooking and lighting.

The Ministry attributed the adjustment to a notable decline in international crude oil prices, which traded at an average of USD 91 per barrel, down from USD 110 per barrel in May 2026, following a recent diplomatic breakthrough in Middle East geopolitical tensions.

Adding to the favourable conditions, the Lilangeni recorded a slight appreciation against the US Dollar, averaging E16.37 in June compared to E16.52 in May 2026.

The price cuts come as a timely boost for the tourism and hospitality sector, with lower transport costs expected to benefit tour operators, travellers, and businesses moving goods across the Kingdom, particularly ahead of a busy events calendar in the second half of the year.

In a statement signed by Principal Secretary Lindiwe F. Mbingo, the Ministry encouraged the public to continue using fuel efficiently, noting that international oil markets and the Lilangeni/Dollar exchange rate remain volatile.
